Zef Kabashi

PDB Academy Director / Staff Coach

Zef is in his first season as Head Soccer Coach at Holy Trinity High School. Last year he was on the coaching staff of Baruch College for the 2019 season.

He coached at Queensborough Community College (2009-2017) with a record of 45-26-4. He won three CUNYAC Regular Season Titles (2011, 2013, & 2016) and four CUNYAC Championships (2011, 2013, 2014 & 2015) during his tenure. He was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2016, and was also honored with the N.J.C.A.A. Region XV Sportsmanship Award for a second time.

He has worked with the Olympic Development Program coaching the U16 & U17 Boys age groups.

With a Master's of Science in Sport Psychology, Zef has earned a UEFA 'B' Coaching License, USSF ‘A’ National Coaching License, a N.S.C.A.A. Advanced National Diploma, and a N.S.C.A.A. Director of Coaching Diploma. He continues to be student of the game with multiple certificates from the World Football Academy.

Zef was a very successful collegiate player, playing for Nassau Community College and later Molloy College. For Nassau, he was a Regional Finalist and captained the N.J.C.A.A. All-Star Team. His success would continue at NCAA Division II Molloy College, where he would captain and earn his Degree in Business Management.



Matko Novak

PDB Academy Scout

Matko is currently the Assistant Coach for NK Olimpija Ljubljana in the Slovenian Prva Liga. He is responsible for the tactical analysis of opponents and preparing team training sessions.

Matko Novak started his coaching career working as an assistant coach at Burlington County College in the NJCAA after he graduated from Wilmington University in 2014, receiving a Bachelor's of Science in Sports Management.

After a season at Burlington County College he moved back home to Croatia where he coached at GNK Dinamo Zagreb, the most decorated Croatian Soccer Club and one of the best Youth Academies worldwide. He worked with the U17s as an assistant coach and tactical analyst, winning multiple national titles and international tournaments against top European clubs. Besides working with the U17s, he also worked with U15s, U13s and U10s as assistant and head coach.

While he was coaching at Dinamo, he also worked as a tactical analyst for multiple clubs and players; most notably Legia Warsaw (Poland) helping the team win the Polish League and Polish Cup in 2018.

Matko is a student of the game. He got his UEFA B license in 2017 and continued to educate himself through various institutions; Soccer Analytics Course in 2017 from Sports Management Worldwide, Periodisation Course from the World Football Academy.

His playing career includes multiple clubs, highest level of play was a 2nd Division club in Croatia. He finished his playing career in Wilmington University, NCAA DII, where he captained the team his junior and senior year.
